BIOGRAPHY

"This is one of the most moving songs I've heard in quite some time" - 2023 Great American Song Contest judge regarding 'Trampoline'

Brisbane born, now Noosa based, I grew up with music running through my veins. My Dad a session drummer and Mum a piano teacher, my earliest memories are of lugging the instruments up on stage for my parents’ band and thus, music surrounding me from an early age inevitably seeped into my soul.

I began performing as a regular late night busker in Brisbane city straight out of high school. In the late 2000s, I recorded my debut EP 'Don't Break' with now Emmy award winning producer Sean Carey in Sydney and released it in 2009. Plenty of touring naturally followed and a second EP 'The Storm', also with Sean Carey behind the desk, was released in 2011.

A move to the UK shortly after and fatherhood led to a hiatus from the Australian music scene. Now settled in the beautiful coastal Australian town of Noosa, I'm back in action, writing, recording, performing and releasing music out into the world.

Co-produced with Tom Johnson at Jampot Studios in Noosa, my 3rd EP, the 5 track 'Sprint Through A Hurricane' was released in October 2020. Not one to sit still for long, I released my 4th EP 'Days of Winter' on Nov 22, 2021. Featuring the single 'Runaway Train'.

My 5th EP is nearly complete with first single 'Hold Me Now' out on Sep 26 and second single 'Trampoline' out on December 12, 2022.

Songwriting achievements over the years include grand finalist or runner up placements in the Great American Songwriting Contest, USA Song of the Year, Australian Songwriters Association top 10 song contest, Eumundi Brewery's 'Pretty Good Here' song comp, Barrie (Canada) New Music Festival, APRA PDA Awards and more...

“4 STARS – Don’t Break highlights not only Barrie’s knack for a killer melody and hook but also shows a vulnerability and emotion not often heard on a debut EP.” The Beast Magazine, Sydney Australia
